Rewriting Your Inner Script: Escaping the Loop That Keeps You Stuck
Rewrite your script!!!
We all have that inner voice. For some, it’s supportive. For others, it’s a broken record repeating: “You’re not good enough. You’ll never get it right. Why even try?”
I see this often with clients. They want change but get trapped in a loop of destructive messages. The truth? Those messages aren’t facts—they’re old stories. And stories can be rewritten.
Why We Get Stuck
The brain loves repetition. Once practiced, even harmful thoughts feel automatic. But just like rehearsing a bad play, repeating them keeps you stuck in roles you’ve outgrown.
Four Steps to Rewriting Your Script
1. Notice
Write down the messages on repeat. Seeing them on paper makes them less powerful.
2. Question
Ask: Is this always true? Where did it come from? Would I believe this if a friend said it about themselves?
3. Rewrite
Replace the line with one that’s realistic and supportive.
“I always fail” → “I’ve stumbled, but I keep moving forward.”
“I’m not good enough” → “I’m learning and growing every day.”
4. Practice
Each time the old thought appears, replace it. Repetition built the loop; repetition breaks it.
Your Story, Your Rewrite
You don’t have to keep performing the same script. With awareness, curiosity, and practice, you can replace destructive loops with lines that move you forward.
Because life isn’t meant to be lived on repeat. It’s meant to grow and evolve.
